The overwhelming role of soils in the global atmospheric hydrogen cycle
T. S. Rhee, C. A. M. Brenninkmeijer, T. Röckmann
Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics Discussions, 5, 11215-11248, 2005

Tae Siek Ree and colleagues have written a very interesting and timely article, for which the ACP editors give the following arguments:

  • There is much interest in the H2 budget because of the likely extensive use of H2 in the future. Thus the subject matter is a worthwhile one. It is also a good tracer for important atmopsheric processes.
  • From the atmospheric chemistry point of view, H2 has been much neglected. The paper shows how quickly science can react. Much of the previous work was all based on up-scaling, not on actual atmospheric information.
