European and African geoscientists team up for new projects, 4 April 2006
This week in Vienna Austria, a major European Geosciences Union congress pays attention to Geosciences in Africa. Major questions about the topography of the earth, the origin of humans and of life in general are still unanswered. Africa holds many answers in this respect. And it's an inspiration for setting up new projects in which European geoscientists collaborate with their African colleagues.

Normally new rivers, seas and mountains are born in slow motion. The Afar Triangle near the Horn of Africa is another story. A new ocean is forming there with staggering speed - at least by geological standards. Africa will eventually lose its horn.
